What is ‘Citizens for Bruce C’?

Citizens for Bruce C is a locally driven campaign to advancecommunity support for the Bruce C Project.

The campaign is led by a network of local residents who believe firmly thatthe Bruce C Project represents a generational opportunity for the region ofBruce, Grey, and Huron counties – the territory of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation.

Citizens for Bruce C fundamentally believe that the Bruce C Project represents the strongest case for new nuclear development in Ontario based on the following key factors for success:

Strong Community Support

Polling conducted by Bruce Power in Fall 2025 found that more than 90% of residents across Bruce, Grey and Huron counties believe that theBruce C Project will be goodfor the community.

Existing site with proven track record

The Bruce Power site presentsa strategic advantage with along history of environmental monitoring and assessment, operational excellence, and proven success through refurbishment projects.

Skilled nuclear workforce and supply chain

The Bruce Power site andthe region benefit from anexisting workforce and localsupport chain that supportongoing operations and refurbishments at theBruce Power site.

To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:

WHEREAS

  • Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) projects that demand for electricity in the Province of Ontario will increase by 65% by 2050 and the province selected Bruce C in 2023 as the lead Project for large-scale nuclear expansion;
  • Ontario will require substantial new sources of reliable, affordable, and clean electricity to support economic growth, electrification, population growth, and energy security;
  • The Bruce Power site has safely generated electricity for Ontario families, businesses, and communities for decades and remains one of the largest sources of carbon-free electricity in the province;
  • The Bruce C Project will be subject to rigorous, independent regulation through the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and review through a Federal integrated Impact Assessment process, protecting the safety of the public, workers and the environment;
  • The proposed Bruce C Project represents an opportunity to help meet Ontario’s future electricity needs while building on existing infrastructure, expertise, and a highly skilled workforce in the region;
  • The Bruce C Project has the potential to create thousands of skilled trades, construction, professional, and operations jobs, as well as opportunities for local businesses, suppliers, municipalities, and Indigenous Nations and communities;
  • Ontario’s future prosperity depends on long-term investments in critical infrastructure that support economic competitiveness, energy reliability, and opportunities for future generations;

We, the undersigned, petition the legislative assembly of Ontario to:

  1. Recognize the importance of securing sufficient reliable, affordable, and clean electricity supplies to meet Ontario’s growing energy needs;
  2. Acknowledge the potential economic, employment, and community benefits that the Bruce C Project could provide for Ontario and host communities across the region;
  3. Express support for the Bruce C Project as a fundamental project to secure energy security and economic opportunity for the Province of Ontario.
